The first time I released the shutter on that old Pentax K-1000, 32 years ago, I was hooked. There have been times when I turned my back on that love but then I was always drawn back. Pawning gear for travel money or other less healthy past times, spending the money I had saved for a lens on bail, starting a studio and then giving it all away for the sake of false love and a trip with the darker side of my ego, starting again with no serious direction and diving into the digital imaging and photo manipulation world and finally coming full circle to making images based on the sound fundamentals I learned 32 years ago. I have returned and embraced that true love. Yes, I still use the digital dark room but I have learned that no matter how sophisticated the program, a poor image is still a poor image and technology will never replace sound fundamentals and good composition.
